Start the day right with healthy, radiant skin. Here are simple, yet effective, skincare steps you can follow in the morning to help you prep and keep your skin looking its best.

Step 1. Cleanse Your Face

Am I washing my face effectively?

Cleansing is an important first step.

Not only does it prep your skin for the day, it also helps wash away dirt, oil or creams
and serum used the night before. Start by washing your hands thoroughly to avoid skin irritations.

Next, choose a gentle cleanser that’s just right for your skin type - oily, dry, combination or sensitive. Apply it using a circular motion.

Try not to use hot water; it strips your skin of its natural oils. Instead, use warm water.

Finally, use a soft towel to gently pat your skin dry.

Step 2. Use A Toner

Why do I need a toner for my morning skincare?

A toner acts as an additional cleansing step that removes oil and impurities that your cleanser didn't remove

Plus, it helps get your skin ready for the next step.

 

After cleansing, use a toner to tighten your pores, help balance your skin's pH, and prepare it for the rest of your skincare products. Toner makes your skin more likely to take up active ingredients from other products.


Look for a toner that’s suitable for your skin type and free from alcohol to prevent your skin from excessive drying.

Step 3. Apply Eye Cream

Do I really need a different cream for the eye area?

The skin around the eye is thin, delicate, and is one of the first areas where one sees signs of aging. Eye creams are specially formulated for this area.

Look for the following ingredients in eye creams: Retinol, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides, Peptides, and Niacinamide.

Eye creams target concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, under eye darkness, and puffiness. Eye creams help moisturise and protect this area. Remember; dab, dab, dab never rub!

Step 4. Don’t Forget The Serum

What exactly does a serum do for your face?

Don’t let the tiny bottle it comes in fool you. It packs a whole lot of goodness!

With its light formula, the skin readily absorbs the active ingredients of the serum which
nourishes, hydrates and improves skin appearance quickly.

Choose a serum that targets your skin concerns – fine lines, dark spots, dryness, pigmentation and other skin woes. Collagen and skin hydration are elements that apply to and help all skin types and ages.

Step 5. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

Can I just skip the moisturiser? I’ve got serum on anyway.

Never, ever skip the moisturiser. This will lock in all the good stuff you’ve just put on your skin and protect it from drying through the day.

Moisturising is an essential step in any skincare routine, and it's especially important during the day to help protect your skin against the elements.

Choose a light texture moisturiser that is oil-free to hydrate your skin and avoid greasiness

Step 6. Protect With Sunscreen

I won’t be out under the sun too long. Do I still need sunscreen?

Guess what? Even if you’re in a car, or indoors, UV rays can penetrate through glass.

So, yes, you do need sunscreen.

The final step in your daytime skincare routine should be applying sunscreen preferably with SPF 30.
Choose the best sunscreen that helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays and prevent sun damage. Remember to reapply every two hours or as needed, especially if you're spending time outdoors in hot weather or in the water.
